November is National Adopt a Senior Pet Month!

National Adopt a Senior Pet Month is celebrated during the entire month of November. Pets are one of the easiest ways to bring warmth and joy to your life. So, if you and your family are thinking about getting a new pet, consider opening your heart and home to a senior pet. We all know puppies and kittens are cute and fun, but adopting a senior animal can truly be a life-changing experience, not only for you but especially for the pet! Not only are older pets often times easier to handle, but they are just a loving and loyal as the younger ones.
Senior pets are often overlooked in the shelters because they are seen as less desirable, but they are often times easier to adopt than the younger ones. One common misconception older pets suffer from, is that they are in shelters because they are badly behaved or destructive. Often times, this statement is untrue, however there are many reasons why an older pet would end up in a shelter such as, relocation, financial restrictions, changing home circumstances, and even death can have adverse effects on these pets lives. Senior pets have so much to offer and they are quite often adaptable. Younger animals can be adorable and sweet, but they also demand a lot of attention and can be very destructive and very hard to keep up with. Usually, senior pets can easily fit right into your lifestyle and adapt very well into a new loving home. So remember, don’t overlook the senior animals, you may just find your new best friend!
